How 1:1 mentoring could help you

Executives come to mentoring from very different places, so there is no assumed level of knowledge and no fixed curriculum. Sessions follow the issues in front of you, and the aim is always leadership-level understanding rather than technical detail.

New to AI
A clear grounding in the fundamentals, and the vocabulary to follow the conversation confidently.
“ What's actually changing here, and why is it important?
Leading adoption
You have a working knowledge of AI, and want a clearer view of what it means for strategy, investment, workforce and initiative sponsorship.
“ What should this change about how we invest, prioritise and lead?
A live initiative
An AI project, business case or team proposal you want to think through.
“ What should I be asking my team about this?
Staying up to date
A regular read on new capabilities, adoption and governance developments across your industry.
“ What has changed since we last looked, and does it change my questions?

What we can cover

Executives tend to ask about these key areas, but the session is yours to guide.

Build strong AI foundations

The concepts leaders keep encountering, without unnecessary technical detail.

How generative AI works, and where its limits sit
Large language models and how they produce answers
Hallucinations, grounding and context
Agent workflows and increasing autonomy
Tools, models and platforms, and public versus local models
How capability is likely to evolve over the next few years

A private place to ask anything

Executives are usually the ones expected to have the answers. Here there's no audience, no assessment and no assumption you already know the terminology.

Confidential
Sessions are treated as confidential professional discussions.
No project documents needed
We can cover a lot without discussing confidential initiative details.
Ask the basic questions
Nothing is too simple, and we can revisit anything as often as you like.

Every session runs for one hour, online. Sessions develop with your knowledge and your responsibilities.

Questions about 1:1 mentoring & coaching

Do I need any existing AI knowledge?

No. Start with the fundamentals or at a more advanced level. Sessions are tailored to what you already know.

Is this technical training?

It can be a bit of both. While we can help you get set up with AI tools, the main focus is learning enough about the technology to understand its implications and lead adoption. The emphasis is AI confidence for leaders, not technical expertise.

Do we set goals for the mentoring?

Yes. For ongoing mentoring, we agree a small number of goals at the outset, such as building general AI literacy, becoming familiar with developments relevant to your industry, understanding potential business model changes, building confidence in sponsoring AI initiatives, or even improving your personal use of AI. The aim is a genuine shift in your knowledge, confidence and ability to lead with AI thinking.

Is the first conversation really free?

Yes. The first 30 minutes are at no charge, so you can meet Steve, raise what you want to cover and decide whether to go further.

Can I book only one session?

Yes. Mentoring and coaching can be a single conversation or an ongoing weekly or monthly arrangement.

Can I use a session to prepare for a leadership decision?

Yes. Use it to understand a new topic, work through a proposal, or prepare the questions you want to ask your team.

How is this different from the Workshop?

The Workshop is a deeper, practical session alongside your board and leadership team together. Mentoring and coaching is personal: it follows your knowledge gaps, your role and your own use of AI over time.

Build AI confidence to lead adoption

You already bring leadership experience and judgement. Mentoring equips you with AI understanding which you can apply as the technology advances.
